Notes:With a remarkable career that spans almost forty years, Deborah Halpern is one of AustraliaÕs most respected and much-loved artists. Creator of many of MelbourneÕs most loved public sculptures, HalpernÕs works exude an innate vitality and alluring simplicity. Spontaneous in form, her works recall visions of Gaudi, Picasso and the playful surrealism of French sculptor Niki de Sant Phalle. Growing up in the world of ceramics, DeborahÕs parents were both potters and influenced her colourful, whimsical and funky aesthetic. Highly recognised and with an acclaimed national and international reputation in the arts community, HalpernÕs work is included in many significant collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, Queensland Art Gallery, Artbank, Australian National Gallery, Canberra, and Geelong Art Gallery.
