  It was in Sydney, the original destination back in 1966, that Soft-Tape was finally reconstructed, as part of the 1990 Biennale of Sydney. In the Biennale the work shared a historic space with 33 1/3 John Cage's 1969 installation for 100 records and 12 record players, as precursors to much subsequent installation and sound environments in which space and time are part of the materials. In this context, and with the hindsight of history, Soft-Tape anticipated a discursive mode that marked a different strategy to that of cage's libertarian anarchism.'
