    A mid-20thC large Maori carved kauri presentation ink stand
    the moulded glass centre with twin lidded inkwells, pin and pen recesses fitting to the solid large kauri base carved with two opposing stylised figures below decorative carved panels, presentation plaque attached engraved 'Presented to Mr Phil Amos by The Maori & Pakeha Parents of the Whatawhata School May 9th 1960'. 300 x 350 x 100.
  • Notes:
    Mr Phil Amos born Wanganui 1925 was a Royal N.Z. Air Force pilot in the Pacific in WWII. From 1946 to 1963 he was a teacher. In 1960 he stood for labour in the Rodney electorate, he was a Member of Parliament for Manurewa from 1963-1975.
