Lot Description:Josiah Martin - vintage albumen black and white photographic print ‘Ariki Maori Village’
(Ariki, Rotomahana, 1885), entitled and numbered 162 within the plate, pencil detail on reverse, 140 x 205. Note this image is also recorded as ‘By: Burton Brothers (Dunedin, N.Z.)’ and ‘Photograph of Te Ariki Pa, taken by the Burton Brothers prior to the Tarawera eruption that destroyed the Maori village in 1886.’ -
