Lot Description:WORLD WAR TWO: 'Destination Tokyo' 1944
lithograph, laid down on linen. 81.5 x 70.6cm -
Notes:This poster was designed as a WWII goose game by the sailors on board the HMAS Warrego (U73). One of the vignettes shows an unflattering image of 'Tokyo Rose' with a sailor in a sinking rowboat. Iva Toguri (1916-2006), also known as 'Tokyo Rose,' was an infamous Japanese-American radio personality who broadcast propaganda to American troops during WWII.
