Impressions of Mary, wife of New Zealand's first Chief Justice, William Martin, from their 34 years' residence. The text is largely a series of warm, personal and perceptive sketches of individual Maori, their reactions to European custom and belief, the effects of the wars, the Auckland hospital, Maori schools, etc. A handsome copy.
