  • Notes:
The Berrys' Antique Shop in Melbourne's Flinders Lane was an Australian landmark from the 1960s to 1993 when it closed. Run by Fran and Dick Berry and their son Richard, Berrys' Antique shop was a veritable Aladdin's cave of antiques, books and curios. The shop was unusual in that at least half the objects were not for sale, or only became available once the Berrys were convinced that a potential buyer had fallen in love with an item and would give it a good home. In 2009-2010, over 300 boxes of objects (in storage since the closure of Berrys' Antique Shop) were sold at auction. The museum purchased a number of items at these sales, including souvenirs and postcards from International Exhibitions; invitations and souvenirs from Federation; souvenirs of the centenary of Melbourne & Victoria; advertising and trade displays from famous Melbourne retail outlets; sporting souvenirs, books and pamphlets chronicling Melbourne's history, etc.1 1 http://museumvictoria.com.au/collections/themes/3505/the-berry-family-collection
