• Lot Description:
  An old Chinese famille rose porcelain small water jug
  oval form, no handle, and applied flowerhead to each side, the exterior painted with eight Daoist immortals, each standing before a pine tree alternating with other foliage, the interior with a dragon enclosed within a double blue ringed medallion, gilt enrichments, dominant tones of red, blue and green, six character underglaze blue mark to the base. Note: it is believed that this form of bowl was used for cooling the boiled water before pouring into the teapot, the ideal temperature for Sencha being 80°C. 95 x 75 x 58.
