    A Pair of Javanese Dance Masks, c.late 19th/ early 20th century
    with custom made stands, these bird form dance masks are decorated with polychrome paint and are traditionally used in a dramatic form of Indonesian dance called a Topeng dance, in which mask wearing, ornately costumed performers interpret traditional narratives concerning fabled kings, heroes and myth accompanied by gamelan music
