    A South East Asian Silver Tribal Headdress, early 20th Century
    this is a portion of the traditional headdress worn by the married women of the Akha Tribes to important ceremonies (see photo for example).

  • Provenance:
    From the private collection of an Australian diplomat, collected throughout Asia in the 1980's and 1990's
  • Notes:
    The Akha are an indigenous hill tribe who live in small villages at higher elevations in the mountains of Thailand, Burma, Laos, and Yunnan Province in China. They made their way from China into Southeast Asia during the early 20th century.
