  • Notes:
An unique collection recording the period during which Swiss born WALTER MEYER [1925-2002] was in the employ of the Churchills, a period coinciding with Churchill's 2nd Prime Ministership, 1951-55. During this period, Meyer travelled with Churcill to the USA, France, Jamaica and Eastern Europe. Whilst in Churchill's service he met Stalin, Tito, Eisenhower and De Gaulle. Following this period, Meyer and his wife Hilda migrated to Australia where they found employment as butler and cook, firstly for Sir Norman Myer, then for George Nicholas and finally for Stanforth Ricketson before they purchased their own guesthouse at Mt Macedon, which they ran successfully until the Ash Wednesday fires of 1983.
