  A George III silver pair cased pocket watch by J. Tarts of London (active 1755-90)
  the outer case profusely repoussé worked with classical figures and scrolls, some distress, the fret cut fancy dial with engraved maker’s name, gilded date aperture, Roman numerals for the hours and an outer ring of Arabic numerals for the minutes, fusée chain drive, the movement with maker’s name and no. 8515, working. The case hallmarked London 1776.

  We have been informed that there are three similar watches in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, these examples do not have the date feature.
