Lot Description:An Australian Colonial Silver-Mounted Emu-Egg Chalice
with scalloped silver rim silver-gilt lined bowl interior fruiting vine flange cluster column incurved octafoil foot with engraved repoussé embossed leaf band; retailed by Brush & McDonnell Melbourne c.1861 (mark 91 J.B.Hawkins '19th Century Australian Silver ACC 1990); in carved timber receptacle possibly a newel post altered. Label affixed to the cup inscribed 'Emu given by J.Duff Gordon 21.8.72'. (Provenance: from the Estate of the late Sir Garfield Barwick AK GCMG QC) -
