Comment by Elizabeth Durack. ' ...Geographically and artistically Elizabeth Durack has always been on 'the Rim' and her art has developed its own consistency. She may have been influenced by other artists and paintings from The Rim may remind us of Piranesi, that 18th century 'Rembrandt of the ancient ruins', but she has never 'belonged' or been identified with any particular movement. The images trace their evolution to earlier compositions but the vision, mood and form of these paintings have matured and deepened ... they are not comfortable paintings but then art which moves beyond the rim is not comfortable.
