This painting is sold with Gallery Gondwana documentation which reads: "Using strong red and white mosaic design set against a black background Dorothy has depicted the surrounding landform and vegetation such as water soakages, spinifex, sandhills and desert oak of Mina Mina, her traditional country. Mina is located in the Tanami Desert, west of Yuendumu, Central Australia. It was here that ancestral women came together to take up the ceremonial digging sticks (kurlangu) that emerged from the ground during the Creation Era. They proceeded to Karntakurlangu, the sire from which the Jukurrpa (Dreaming) takes its name. The Napangardi/Napanangka women performed rituals of song and dance as they proceeded to further sites such as Kimayi and Janyinki in the east. The site of Mina Mina is marked by a stand of desert oaks (Casuarina decaisneana) which are the embodiment of the digging sticks and mark this significant sacred site."
