    1st ed. Paris : Depot General des Cartes et Plans de la Marine et des Colonies, 1807. Page size: 565 x 440mm. [3]p. 39 plates (charts and plans). 1584a. Marbled boards. Considerable wear to binding. Lacks spine. Some wear and soiling to contents. First free endpaper detached. Lengthy inscription, mostly covered by correction fluid, on reverse of title page. Lacks half of plate 35, 'Carte generale de la partie du Grand Archipel d'Asie reconnue par le Contre-Amiral Bruny-Dentrecasteaux, en 1792 et 1793'. In 1791, d'Entrecasteaux was sent to the Pacific in search of La Perouse. No traces of the lost expedition were found, but in the course of his search d'Entrecasteaux made important geographical studies, explored the west and southwest coasts of Australia, the south coast of Tasmania, the west coast of New Caledonia, and visited Tonga and the Santa Cruz Islands. This impressive atlas, published during the reign of Napoleon, features excellent maps and plans, including one relating to New Zealand. AF. Binding FA. Contents G.
