Lot Description:Craig, Eric - Fern Album. New Zealand ferns mounted by Eric Craig, Princes Street, Auckland
c.1890. 4to. Decorative carved kauri boards, French polished, bevel edged. Page extremities browned, occasional spotting throughout. Presented to Mr W Elsmore on 6.3.86. 31 leaves, of ferns affixed to heavy cardboard, with Latin label mounted. Each fern frond springs from a base of bright green mosses, or small portions of other ferns added as decoration - the scientific plant name only applies to the central frond. Craig created a "Fern Depot" in Princes Street which became known as "Eric Craig's Fern and Curiosity Shop". G. -
