Lot Description:A pair of Chinese Hexagonal, Blackwood Framed, Lanterns
with translucent glass panels. Qing Dynasty 19th century At the top of the lantern is a flange protuding with double dragon heads. The lanterns comprise of many long narrow pieces of wood, that would have been left over from larger furniture. Each of the pieces are tongue and grooved into the frames, terminating in carved upturned dragon heads. Each sheet of glass is pegged into the frame & removable, the glass has been replaced. This style of lantern can be seen in illustrated texts & paintings hanging from the rafters, with a similar chain & hook.
