A rare and impressive Japanese Taisho period suit of armour
complete with ebonised black lacquered metal fittings including face mask, helmet, chest plate, armed guards with chain mail, chin guards, etc., elaborately worked with coloured silk cord woven in bands and with square panel highlights, in tones of soft red, orange, purple, soft green and ivory, further highlights to the elaborate headdress, the chest plate with relief dragon, embroidered silk undergarments. Post Samurai era, in original packing box, no lid, the set including an imitation wakizashi. Height displayed upon box 1530.
