Lot Description:New South Wales Colonial Government weights
This historically significant set of 7 brass weights was used as the official compliance standard for all weights & scales in the colony. Each weight is engraved 'SYDNEY NEW SOUTH WALES 1850' & again with a series of marks including the Queens crown & 'V' for Victoria. Weights range from 1lb. to 56lb. Housed in its original convict built timber box the set could be easily transported to any town in the colony via wagon or coach.
