    hallmarked, London, 1845, James Edwards, of cauldron shape, cast with country scenes attributed to the inspiration of painter David Teniers the younger, on three mask and paw feet, each initialed F, gilt interior, weight 470gm, h 7 cm, d 7cm

    Purchased: Ellendens Auctions, Sydney, 1990, with original Eggleton notes
  • Notes:
    David Teniers the younger (1610 to 1690) was a Flemish artist, born in Antwerp known for his rural and bucolic scenes. Brian Eggleton used to refer to these salt as his "After Teniers Salts"
