Lot Description:A large high quality hand knotted Persian Khorasan carpet
of unusual design and decoration, the large central shield shaped medallion decorated with standing and recumbent deer, the field ornately decorated with panels including lions of Ethiopia, scarab wings, banners of Kufic script, urns, Phoenix birds, ducks, eagles, swans, savage dogs, masks, temples, palaces and landscapes. One single wide border guard decorated with urns and boteh motifs. In colours of light and dark blue, red, ochre, terracotta, teal, shades of brown, cerise and old ivory. One or two marks and slight fading. 2900 x 4120. -
