Lot Description:An Inscribed Copper Gilt Plaque
Nepalese Circa 19th Century, within a ring of flames and above a lotus base is an image of the four-armed emaciated goddess Chamunda, trampling on a corpse, her left foot resting on a lotus. She holds her attributes – a skull drum, a skull-topped trisula and a skull cup, her principal right hand in a gesture of warning. Chamunda is the form of Kali, a protectress who slew demons and drank their blood. Height: 9 ¼” (23.5cm) -
