Lot Description:Books On Japanese Costume (2)
Tanaka Naofusa (editor). Rekise Fukushoku Kou [loosely 'History of the costume and accessories of the Imperial Court'] Tokyo, Meiji Tosho, Meiji 26 (1894). Five volumes complete. 28 full-page colour woodcuts, including 3 double-page, and many line illustrations in text over the five volumes, each volume approx. 70pp., folded leaves, Japanese four-hole thread binding (fukuro-toji), patterned wrappers with white title labels. A very good set with no damage or worming. The illustrations are of costume patterns, haori, kimono, footwear, trousers,hats, fans, insignia &c. The set may be part of the multi-volume series 'Kojitsu Sosho' or Library of Ancient Customs, first published in 1816; Takizawa Kiyoshi (?) Karakusa Moyo Hingata [Arabesque Style Forms]. Tokyo, 1884 (?) small oblong pattern book. -
