  Book On Surgery
  POUTEAU, Claude.Melanges de Chirurgie. Lyon, Geofroy Regnault, 1760. First edition.5 folding plates, xii,526,(2)pp., red edges, contemporary marbled endpapers, ownership stamps on titlepage (see note below), 8vo., contemporary full calf, rather marked with worn edges, neatly rebacked to match, with black title label. Claude Pouteau (1725-1775) eminent French surgeon and sometime head of surgery at the Hotel-Dieu hospital in Lyon. The two old (19c.?) ownership stamps on the titlepage are both of the Bibliotheque of the Hotel-Dieu de Lyon, with a third stamp reading 'En Double'. There are no other markings, and the book is clean and crisp internally, including the plates. A pleasing association.
