THORNTON, Edward, A Gazetteer of the Territories under the Government of The East-India Company, and of the Native States on the Continent of India. First edition. 4 volumes complete. London, Wm. H. Allen, 1854. Frontis. large folding map of India coloured in outline in Vol. 1, each vol. approx. 400pp., occasional marginal browning / foxing, marbled endpapers and edges, 8vo., contemporary 1/2 calf and marbled boards, spine with raised bands and red and black title labels, calf a little rubbed and now stabilised with conservation leather dressing. Old ownership stamp of a parliamentary library on title pages and first and last pages of text. No external markings. A very good set. -
