  STAY AWAY FROM OATLANDS, WILLIAM WHITTAKER
  June 1856 entire letter to the Police Magistrate in Hobart Town inscribed "On Public Service only", the interior with a printed Ticket-of-Leave issued to William Whittaker (convicted of larceny in 1850 and sentenced to seven years transportation) - the "pardon" being qualified as he was forbidden from going to the Oatlands District "...on account of suspicious conduct and to break connexions...". The envelope shows the "FREE" mail privilege date stamp and the "C.G.O." receival mark of the Comptroller-General's Office.
