  A Qing dynasty 18th C Chinese Carved Ivory Letter Case, 清早期象牙信筒
  modelled in two parts, profusely carved with birds ,flowers and butterflies , l 21.9cm / 8.5 inches 信筒长21.5 公分。此器以浅浮雕阳文橘皮地工艺精雕而成，刀工精细流畅，毫无滞涩之感。叶片、花卉、瓜果、飞鸟、昆虫，无不细腻逼真生动。阳文橘皮地雕刻是一种竹雕技法，运用于象牙雕刻则＋分之罕见。从此器造型、雕刻风格和整个老化程度看，极可能是明未清初嘉定派竹雕高手之杰作。参考：湖南美术出版社，2010年1月出版 : <<竹木牙角器 – 收藏百问百答>> 第29页。
