  New Zealand Medal, reverse dated 1864 to 1866.
  (1010 John Hoctor, 1st Bn 12th Regt), impressed naming. BBM 158 medals to Regt. 12th (East Suffolk) Regiment was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Meade Hamilton, CB, who purchased his command of the 1st battalion in 1861 and commanded it in New Zealand. Regiment served in NZ 1860-66 and was engaged in first Taranaki war, Waikato war and sustained losses at Rangiriri and took part in battle at gate Pa. With brief notes.
