A Rare 19th Century Indian Ivory Figural Chess Set
includes a full set of gilded polychrome pieces in traditional Rajasthan style. The kings and queens modelled as princes seated on a howdah, the camels as bishops, knights as horseriders, elephants as rooks and pawns as light cavalry. Some losses to gilding and weapons. Letter of provenance provided. Circa 1870.
