from The District of Port Phillip Colony of New South Wales. A fascinating collection dating back to 1842 (Melbourne was founded in 1835). The collection comprises of many Warrants & Writs, Bonds & drafts. Note; some documents refer to Redmond Barry (Ned Kelly’s hanging Judge); Maritime Warrant for the arrest of a ship “Little Angelina” in the Vice Admiralty Court of Victoria (No.38) 1893; Admiralty Injunction with “Crown” stamps; Hanging in Castlemaine for the murder of a Chinese man; Commitment Warrant for an Asylum for the insane; Documents signed by William A’Beckett; beautiful wax & blind embossed seals as well as duty stamps & cancellations; Also includes c1855 “Victorian Government Gazette” in half bound morocco. -
