Lot Description:AVIATORS: 1931 Menu “Luncheon in Honor of Wiley Post and Harold Gatty, Round-the-World-Flyers”
hosted by the Mayor of New York, signed on reverse by six famous aviators - Charles Lindbergh, Wiley Post, Harold Gatty, Bernt Balchen, Clarence Chamberlin & Casey Jones. A wonderful and extremely rare group. -
Notes:This was the first flight around the world in a fixed-wing aircraft. Wiley Post was killed in a crash in August 1935. Harold Gatty, born in Tasmania, was a leading navigator, inventor and aviation pioneer, who founded Fiji Airways which later became Air Pacific.
