• Notes:
  Andrew Browne's interest in the relationship between the constructed and natural worlds finds poetic manifestation in 'Billboard and Sky-NYC'. His work enjoys the play between glimpses of the familiar and that of the unknown, here set against an atmospheric blue-grey sky. In this painting our eyes fix upon a glistening billboard upon which a cloudy sky is reflected, or perhaps, it is actually a poster reproduction of the sky. While, Browne employs soft focus to render his subjects, regardless of the blurred effect we recognise the urban architecture of the sign. Even so, a nebulous black, abstracted figure or form confounds and its ambiguity leaves the painting tantalisingly open-ended.
