Lot Description:A fine Japanese Cinnabar Lacquer octagonal incense box and cover, Edo period, 19th century
Very well carved with nine pomegranates, including three on the cover, amongst leaves and buds, the tall-sided black lacquer base with a two-character signature
3.5cm high, 5.6cm diameter
In a silk purse within a Japanese wooden box, inscribed and with a note: “This container was prepared for the Master of the Scroll Den, end of the summer, 1847†-
