Notes:Ship Was Built In 1872 In Glasgow Wreck Report For Ôsorata', 1881 Report Of Inquiry Held At Port Adelaide, S.A., Into The Stranding Of The S.S. "sorata,Ó Of Liverpool. The Orient Line Iron S.S. "sorata,Ó Of Liverpool (Owned By The Pacific Steam Navigation Company), 2,573 Tons Register, Official No. 65,991, Osbertus Graham Fowler (Certificate Of Competency No. 31,943) Master, Sailed From Port Adelaide For Melbourne At About 4.40 On The Evening Of The 3Rd September 1880, And Within About Four Hours Of Her Departure Ran Ashore About Two Miles South Of The Cape Jervis Lighthouse, Backstairs Passage, Her Speed At The Time Being About Twelve Knots An Hour. All Her Passengers (She Had About 368 On Board) Were Transhipped To Steam Tugs, &C., And Sent Back To Port Adelaide; And All, Or Nearly All, Of Her Cargo Was Saved, Although Some Of It Was Considerably Damaged. She Remained On The Rocks Until The 13Th November, When, By The Assistance Of The Steam Tug "albatross,Ó She Was Removed And Towed Back To Port Adelaide, Which Was Reached The Following Morning.
