    Woolley & Wallis, Salisbury Uk, 05/10/05 Lot 339
  • Notes:
    The Bellands Was Built In 1891 By W. H. Polter And Sons, Liverpool And Was Originally Named The Forteviot. She Had A Very Chequered History And Went Through At Least Ten Captains And Five Changes Of Name. In 1908 She Did Not Answer Her Helm When Under Tow Down The Elbe En Route To Santo Rosalia And Capsized Two Of The Attending Tugs, Drowning Five Of Their Crew. In 1910 She Was Sold To E.C. Schram & Co. Of Bremmen And Renamed Werner Vinnen. On August 22Nd 1914 She Was Captured By British Naval Ships Off The Cape Verde Islands And Brought To Freetown, Sierra Leone. In 1916 She Was Sold To The Bell Lines Of Hull And Renamed Bellands. She Was Broken Up At Blyth, Northumberland In 1926.
