    A Rare And Important Pair Of French Breech Loading Pin Fire Gold Plated French Navy Model Revolvers By Lefaucheux
    Each stamped E. LeFaucheux Brte Sdgd, a Paris, with consecutive serial numbers LF110441 and LF110442, circa 1858 With triggers, hammers, ramrods, foresights, butt swivel rings and screws of French blued steel, with two piece ivory grips, presented within an associated fitted brass bound mahogany case, each stamped to the top of the barrell.

    Private collection, Queensland.
  • Notes:
    Note: Eugene LeFaucheux's pin fire cartridge revolver surpassed many of his rivals at during the mid-19th century, including, for a period, Samuel Colt, the American inventor and fire-arms credited with popularising the revolver. This was particularly evident during the American Civil War (1861-1865) when his pistols were in high demand.
