    1977 Holden Torana A9X GMP&A Group C Hatchback
  • Notes:
The Holden Torana first appeared in 1967 and was finally phased out in 1980. The Torana name apparently comes from the indigenous word meaning 'to fly'. The Torana is one of Australia's iconic cars of the 1970s and had enormous success on the racetrack. The most desirable and rare Torana of all is the A9X Hatchback with the GMP&A lightweight body shell which totally dominated touring car racing in 1978 and 1979. The car offered here is one of just 33 genuine GMP&A A9X Torana Group C Hatchbacks ever built. This 1977 car comes with an unbroken chain of ownership and unquestionable provenance and history. It has Group C race history and comes complete with all of its original period 'race bits' intact. An outstanding sports racing car from the pinnacle of historic Australian motorsport this car has all of its ID tags and was raced by Brian and Graeme Wilson. The car has recently completed an exact and highly specific restoration to the most extreme standards under the supervision of the leading authority in the field for cars of this type and period. It is an incredible example of one of the most sought after, charismatic and successful Australian cars of all time.
