Lot Description:ENGLISH W.GREENER S/B M/L VOLUNTEER TYPE PRIZE RIFLE
577 Cal; 39" barrel; f. bore; std front & rear sights; breech marked W.GREENER MAKER LONDON 1860; foliate engraving to breech & tang; profusely foliate engraved lock marked W.GREENER with ROYAL CYPHER, strung bugle & VR all inlaid in gold; iron regulation style furniture of the period & butt trap profusely foliate engraved; hinged patch box engraved with a tiger; g. profiles; clear engraving & markings; soft brown patina to barrel, lock, furniture & fittings; f to g stock with several inlays & repair work to wrist; slightly worn chequered wrist & forend; a shield escutcheon has been removed from lhs leaving a vacant part on the wood; all complete with rod which has been restored at some stage; 8" has been added to barrel, not visible externally; gwo. -
