  Artist represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery, Sydney and Melbourne; Shaun Gladwell had long been an artist that Ann championed having been introduced to him ten years earlier by her great friend and independent curator Peter Fay. In typical Annie fashion she commissioned Gladwell to create a new video work for her dining room ceiling just months before she passed away. Her idea was to replace the John Olsen ceiling which had been gifted to Newcastle Art Gallery. As Ron Ramsey, Director of Newcastle Art Gallery said; 'Ann Lewis possessed a unique and intuitive sense for buying great works from emerging artists. Nothing illustrates this better than the John Olsen ceiling she commissioned for her dining room in 1964'. Even though she knew she would never see his video work completed it gave her great pleasure to know that she had set the wheels in motion.
