  The story that accompanies this work is: The Torres Strait Islander headdress is known as either the Dhoeri Western Island Language or Dhari Eastern Island Language and varies from island to island in its size and form. In the present day the Dhoeri is only worn by dancers at ceremonial occasions. The dancers interpret traditional stories by mimicking sacred ceremonies and events that have taken place during tribal wars. Today the Dhoeri continues to be an important symbol of the Torres Strait people.
