A collection of First World War photographs formerly belonging to Corporal Edward Orbell of the Wellington Mounted Rifles Regiment
Early 20th C. 160mm x 110mm. Collection includes nine photographs taken by an unknown photographer, stationed behind Ottoman lines. Images depict Turkish cavlary and firing lines, battlefield quarters, a field bakery, machine gun company, two men sharpening bayonets and Bristish troops entering Jerusalem. Plus two images in which Field Marshal Viscount Allenby appears, who is recognised for leading the British Empire's Egyptian Expeditionary Force during the Sinai and Palestine campaign. Images inscribed verso with wear and spotting. A unique collection. G. [9].
