    Sir George Grey K.C.B (compiler) ‘Poems, Traditions and Chaunts of the Maoris’ (Ko nga moteatea, me nga hakirara o nga Maori)
    pub. Robt Stokes, Wellington, 1853, hard cover grey-green embossed cloth with gilt spine, octavo, spine separated at front paper and loose at endpaper, inscribed with previous owner’s details, some browning and stains, splits to cover, bumped corners. The first published collection of Maori waiata and legends. Along with a small manuscript journal, unknown author, with reference to the ‘Grey Library, Capetown’ and 14 pages of ‘Proverbs’ in Maori/English.
