Lot Description:A rare Reuben Watts silver and Maori portrait carved serpentine brooch
the rectangular panel carved with portrait of a Maori man, in raised rub-over mount, the serpentine shaped frame with hand beaten effect and cut-out flared detail, embossed facsimile maker’s signature, ‘STERLING’ and engraved owner’s initials within a diamond ‘AJB’ to reverse. 50 x 36. In original green velvet lined box with original maker’s label ‘Reuben Watts General Silversmith & Jewellery Work 41 & 42 Security Building, Queen Street, Auckland’. -
