  A Roman Lead Cult Military Tableau Plaque, 1st-4th Century AD
  Roman cult military plaque, 2nd-3rd C AD from central Germany-Danube area where these cults were popular in the army. It depicts a temple scene within pillars. On the top right and left the pillars are flanked by two mythical serpents. The central figure is a Mother Godess flanked by a horse and rider on each side-probably the Dioscurii (Castor and Pollux out of Leda and Jupiter) they salute her and are flanked by Mars on the left and another wreathed God on the right. Above this scene there is the Sun God, Helios, with sun rays. A naked Godess faces Heliosís bust. The Dioscurii are each trampling on a dead body. To the right of the bottom scene there are two naked men proceeding centrally-one leading the other. Probably a priest of the cult leading an initiate-they stand under a tree. The more central figure is slicing up a sacrificial animal suspended from the top brancehs of the tree. Below the scene there are cult objects normally associated with Mithras-the Altar, Scorpion, Snake, Amphora, Lion and Cockerel.
