the domed foot relief decorated with emus and kangaroos in a bush landscape, rising to a knopped leaf moulded stem, the bowl with repoussé scroll work and a scene of uniformed officers shooting at a target, the tree lined cartouche inscribed "South Australian Rifle Association, matches 1861, third match distances 500 & 600 yards, 5 rounds at each, first prize silver cup, presented by Mr. John Davis and 20 pound added by the Association, won by Captn. Popham, scoring 13 points without a miss", hallmarked W. Edwards, Melbourne
