Notes:'When there is no higher use for the figure, the artist tends to draw the portrait of the model, as Bernard Hall has done in a picture dated between 1910 and 1915. It is quite erotically charged: the woman sits in profile, but turns towards the artist and smiles as she drops a splendid gown from her shoulders. Her tightly closed legs are more coy than chaste, and a coloured ball on the ground adds an odd note of play.'
