Notes:'"All my work is based on memory and moods. In the way that people look at clouds and see different things, I look at a landscape in later afternoon, for example, and want to capture the way the light has a certain effect on my own emotions. It may make me feel optimistic, or euphoric, or even nostalgic, and I want to capture that mood". There is a paradox in timelessness of his paintings; for all that is seen is transitory. The clouds will move, the scene will become lighter or darker, the precious beauty of the flowers will fade, and the youthful female form will age. The only permanence is found in the paintings themselves. This notion of transience is implied both in the choice of subject and the poetically romantic title, perhaps best felt in such flower paintings as Keep These Safe Tonight and Just The Thought That You Would Be There Too. Flowers have long been used in poetry and paint as metaphors of symbols of the transitory nature of life, made the more poignant by their precious beauty.'1 1.
