Lot Description:WW11 POW in Burma - Correspondence of Bdr James Harry Dickinson (Service No QX 21500) A.I.F Malaya
Collection of letters both from and to 'Harry' Dickinson (b.1917) covering the period from when his regiment, 2/10 Field Regiment arrived in Singapore in late 1941, until he returned to Brisbane in November 1945. THE COLLECTION INCLUDES: 20 letters & telegrams from Harry to his mother sent from Singapore in October 1941 until he is taken prisoner in February 1942 + official correspondence & telegrams to Harry's family, initially listing him as missing in July 1942, then a further letter in May 1943 advising the family that he was a prisoner of war interned at Thailand Camp. + large qty of letters (approx.50) from Harry's mother and his girlfriend Alison Ozanne, written to Harry whilst he's a POW, mostly addressed to the camp at Moulmein Burma + 5 Letters & cards written by Harry to his mother whilst at Moulmein + Certificate of Discharge, Service Book, Demobilization Procedure Book, leather wallet with Identification card & photograph of Alison, medal ribbons, colour patches, service stripes, Australian Commonwealth Military Forces Badge, Royal National Assoc 1950 badge and fob + miscellaneous correspondence from family friends & photographs. + Published recollections of the 2/10 Regiment by Dr.B.GOODWIN, Mates and Memories, 1995 + Medicos and Memories, Sgd by authors. + 4 other books concerning the war in Malaya. Harry & Alison were married on the 16th November 1945 in Brisbane. Harry's brother William Stanley Dickinson also enlisted, refer to next lot. -
