  In 1990 Bob commenced working with the Victorian Print Workshop (which was to later become the Australian Print Workshop). It was at this time that he embarked on the longest association with a print workshop during his career. It was there that he was introduced to master printer of lithography, Neil Leveson. The Advocate was used as the reference drawing for subject, scale and composition in preparation for a print making session. In his first three-week session with Leveson, Bob produced six large sheet lithographs. The Advocate, 1990, The Client, 1990 and The Waiting Room, 1990 were all images relating to the legal system. The intention was to depict the unfortunate people who had encountered its process. Amongst this body of work there were two additional images from the Japanese series and one other called Migrants in Fitzroy which was to later grace the cover of the Complete Graphics publication. The quality of work in these lithographs is exceptionally high, with a considered lack of overworking, subtle tonal variations and a sympathetic nod to the complexities of charcoal drawings as their inspiration. The Advocate charcoal is a significant work in terms of the history of Dickerson graphics and charcoal images. Jennifer Dickerson
